FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL

What is Vitamin Well?

Vitamin Well is developed as a modern, healthier, and tastier alternative to traditional sodas and sweet juices. This was what we felt was missing from the beverage market when Vitamin Well was founded in 2008. We set out to develop a beverage that strikes a perfect balance between function and great taste.

In which markets are Vitamin Well sold?

Vitamin Well is available in most European markets, throughout the MENEAT region, as well as in some Asian countries.

Who is Vitamin Well best suited for?

Vitamin Well is a thirst-quencher for anyone looking for a tasty drink. Besides the great flavours, our drinks are enriched with vitamins and minerals that can provide some extra benefits. Simply put, Vitamin Well is a modern, healthier, and more flavourful alternative to traditional sodas and sugary juices. All Vitamin Well drinks are enriched with vitamins and minerals with clear functional properties.

Is Vitamin Well vegan?

Most of our flavours are vegan; however, those that contain Vitamin D are not.

Where is Vitamin Well produced?

All Vitamin Well products are produced in facilities in Western Europe.

Is Vitamin Well a low-calorie drink?

Vitamin Well meets the EU criteria for being a low-calorie drink and it comes with a mix of vitamins and minerals. It does contain fructose, but a lower amount compared to sugar levels in many traditional juices, soft drinks and milk products.

Why do you use fructose in your Vitamin Well original flavours?

Vitamin Well is developed to be a modern, healthier, and tasty alternative to traditional soft drinks and sweet juices. We chose fructose because it is sweeter than regular sugar, allowing us to use less total sugar. A Vitamin Well contains only 3,9–4,2 grams of fructose per 100 ml, which is less than many soft drinks, juices and milk products. Vitamin Well is also an option for those who prefer to avoid artificial sweeteners.

Can pregnant women enjoy Vitamin Well?

Except for the flavours containing caffeine, Vitamin Well does not contain anything that legally requires guidelines for pregnant or breastfeeding women. However, we always recommend contacting your midwife or doctor if you want individual advice.

All Vitamin Well flavours containing caffeine have a warning label on the front of the bottle for pregnant and breastfeeding women (for example Focus, React and Awake). The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends a maximum of 200 mg caffeine per day for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Can children drink Vitamin Well?

Yes, children can consume most Vitamin Well beverages. In general, the ingredients do not have specific recommendations for children. However, the vitamin and mineral reference values on our labels are stated for adult consumers.

A few of our flavours contain caffeine (for example Focus, React and Awake), which is not recommended for children. This information is clearly marked on bottles of these specific flavours.

Are your bottles made from recycled plastics?

Yes, just like all Vitamin Well bottles, the new larger bottle is also made of 100 % recycled plastics. The bottles are also produced using 100 % green energy.

How does Vitamin Well work with sustainability?

VITAMINS AND MINERALS

What are the benefits of added vitamins and minerals?

If you eat a balanced and varied diet with fruits and vegetables, you will most likely get all the nutrients you need. However, depending on both diet and other personal factors, it may be advisable to supplement your diet with vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin Well’s products contain vitamins and minerals with various functions – please see each product label for EU-approved benefits for each vitamin and mineral, but the drinks should primarily be enjoyed for their taste.

How many bottles can I drink in a day?

We do not have a strict recommendation on the maximum amount of Vitamin Well a person can consume, but we always recommend a balanced and varied diet, where water should be the main source of liquid. It is possible to overdose on nutrients, but for adults this generally requires a large consumption over a very long period. The table on the back of our bottles states how much of each nutrient you are getting and a reference value (local, depending on country).

Please note that we have a few flavours with caffeine, which has a specific recommendation from the European Food Safety Authority: A maximum intake of 400 mg of caffeine per day.

On what basis can you make your claims about the benefits of vitamins and minerals?

Each health and nutrient claim on our bottles are directly taken from the regulation by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). We are not using every claim listed per ingredient, see the list below for the most common ones.

EFSA develops regulations based on extensive research and meta-studies, as well as input from the Food Agencies in EU countries, and specifies amounts and thresholds for nutrients. The regulations also include ready-made wordings about the benefits of vitamins and minerals – these EFSA phrasings are the ones we use on Vitamin Well’s bottles.

QUALITY AND SHELF LIFE

Why does it say on your 500 ml bottles that an opened bottle should be consumed within a day?

You can enjoy a Vitamin Well after more than one day without any noticeable difference. However, some vitamins degrade when exposed to oxygen (and sunlight), hence this recommendation. An opened bottle stored in the refrigerator will last better than one kept at room temperature.

Why do you recommend keeping Vitamin Well out of direct sunlight?

Sunlight and oxygen affect the stability of many vitamins and may cause them to break down over time. This is why we have a clear recommendation on our product labels not to store our bottles in direct sunlight.

My Vitamin Well has a slightly different colour from what I am used to, is something wrong?

The product is likely completely normal. Colour deviations can occur when Vitamin Well bottles have been kept in direct sunlight, which unfortunately is not uncommon in smaller stores. However, on rare occasions we experience colour shifts between different production batches.

If your Vitamin Well is significantly different in colour (or flavour), we would appreciate if you keep the product in the fridge and reach out to our product and quality teams with a complaint, using our contact form.

Why did my product make a fizzing sound when I opened it?

A small fizz can be created by the slight vacuum that is created during the production process. It’s normal and won’t affect the taste or quality of the product. But if the flavour or something else is off, we appreciate it if you report it to us as a product complaint.

Can I consume an expired Vitamin Well bottle?

Our products can be consumed after the ‘best before’ date. The reason we set this date is mainly because, after this time, we cannot guarantee that the levels of vitamins and minerals will match what is stated on the packaging, as vitamins can degrade over time. The taste may also be slightly affected after this date. However, if you have a Vitamin Well product that has passed its best before date, we encourage you to try it – it’s not harmful to consume it if it still tastes good.

Why do some bottles have small dark spots?

We use 100% recycled plastics in all Vitamin Well bottles and sometimes this can result in discolorations of the bottle. This does not affect the taste, quality or the shelf life of the product. We constantly strive to minimize these occurrences, but this is a drawback we happily accept to be able to use 100% recycled plastics in our bottles.

How do you ensure food safety and quality?

Vitamin Well is a high-quality product that is developed and produced to meet all the relevant international and national regulations on quality, safety and compliance. We carefully select our ingredients and conduct regular tests and evaluations to ensure quality. Naturally, we adhere to relevant international and national regulations regarding food safety and hygiene.

Are your products compliant with anti-doping standards like WADA?

Yes, they are. Our production facilities ensure that no ingredients banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) are present in Vitamin Well. Furthermore, extensive processes are in place to ensure that no prohibited ingredients or raw materials enter our production facilities at all. Of course, Vitamin Well products are also manufactured in compliance with international and national food safety laws and regulations and according to high-quality standards.

Why are your bottle caps attached?

From July 2024, tethered caps became a requirement for all plastic beverage bottles within the EU according to a new EU-wide directive on plastics. The aim is to reduce the amount of plastic litter ending up in the environment and to promote a circular economy.

Since this is ultimately a good thing, we decided to be among the very first beverage products first to implement the attached caps, already during 2023.

The attached cap is easy to use – first unscrew it, then fold it to the side, and the cap stays in place while you drink. Although it may take some time to get used to this, we hope that everyone agrees that it is good to reduce plastic waste in nature.

VITAMIN WELL ZERO

What is Vitamin Well Zero?

Vitamin Well Zero is a relatively new, sugar-free product range from Vitamin Well. Like all Vitamin Well beverages, the Zero range comes with great taste, carefully selected blends of vitamins and minerals, in bottles that are made of 100 percent recycled plastics.

What are the main differences between Zero and the original Vitamin Well range?

Vitamin Well Zero is a still, sugar-free and great-tasting thirst-quencher that’s been enriched with carefully selected vitamins and minerals. Vitamin Well’s original range has the same properties but is sweetened with a low amount of fructose.

What is Vitamin Well Zero sweetened with?

Vitamin Well Zero contains the sweeteners sucralose and acesulfame-K. Furthermore, the Zero range contains erythritol which enhances flavour and contributes to sweetness.

What is erythritol?

Vitamin Well Zero contains a small amount of erythritol, which enhances flavour and contributes to sweetness. Erythritol is an almost calorie-free sugar alcohol, commonly used as a low-calorie sweetener in various kinds of foods.

Erythritol occurs naturally in fruits such as melons, pears, and grapes. We chose to include erythritol since it allowed for a better flavour profile, without adding any sugar or calories.

Erythritol is listed as an approved and safe ingredient by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

VITAMIN WELL SPORT

What is Vitamin Well Sport?

Vitamin Well Sport 001 is a sports drink consisting of a carbohydrate-electrolyte solution. The drink contains a combination of electrolytes, minerals, and vitamins. Vitamin Well Sport 002 is a sugar-free option.

What is the difference between Sport and the original Vitamin Well range?

Vitamin Well Sport is a sports-drink with or without carbs, with electrolytes, vitamins and minerals. Vitamin Well is a still, low-calorie thirst-quencher, sweetened with a low amount of fructose and enriched with versatile combinations of vitamins and minerals.

What are the main benefits of Vitamin Well Sport?

Vitamin Well Sport 001 is a sports drink consisting of a carbohydrate-electrolyte solution. The carbohydrates are a good energy supplement for long-term endurance training. The drink also contains magnesium, which contributes to the body’s normal energy metabolism and muscle function. Vitamin Well Sport 002 is a sugar-free option.

In what way does Vitamin Well Sport contribute to increased recovery for those who do endurance or high intensity training?

Being able to quickly restore the body’s fluid and salt balance is a large part of recovery. Vitamin Well Sport 001 (with sugar) replaces fluid losses faster than if you drink water. This is because it contains sodium and carbohydrates, which bring fluid from the intestines into the body.

Vitamin Well Sport 001 contains, among other things, carbohydrates and sodium, a combination that can prolong the time to exhaustion during endurance training. Vitamin Well Sport 002 is the sugar-free alternative.

Why have you added electrolytes?

Electrolyte and carbohydrate solutions help maintain endurance performance during long-term endurance training and improve water absorption during physical exercise. Electrolytes help regulate hydration and muscle function, while carbohydrates provide energy, both of which are critical for maintaining performance during long-term exercise. Electrolytes are often derived from salts, such as sodium, magnesium, chloride, and potassium.

1.15 LITRE BOTTLES

What is the main benefit of the Vitamin Well 1.15-litre bottles?

These bigger Vitamin Well bottles provide customers with more flexibility. They offer consumers a convenient packaging for those who know they want more than our original 500 ml. For example, it can be a good choice if you want to enjoy Vitamin Well with a couple of friends or your family.

For how long can a 1.15-litre Vitamin Well bottle be kept?

An opened bottle of Vitamin Well (1,15 litre) should be stored in the fridge and consumed within five days. When stored in room temperature, an opened bottle should be consumed within 24 hours. If the bottle is unopened, please see the best-before-date on the bottle.

Why do you recommend keeping the larger sized bottles in the fridge?

We believe that it will be more common that the larger bottle is kept over several days once it has been opened. An opened bottle needs to be kept in the fridge to last for up to five days, which is why we recommend fridge storage. The 500 ml bottles are mostly consumed on-the-go, but they can also be kept in the fridge for up to five days.

Are the ingredients in the 1.15-litre bottles the same as in the original flavours?

The vitamins and minerals in the larger bottles generally come in the same proportion as in the standard sized bottles, if you compare 100 ml to 100 ml. However, there are some minor variations due to regulatory enrichment requirements for larger sized bottles. As always, there are slight differences between each flavour.

Should I consume a full 1.15-litre bottle of Vitamin Well at once?

We always recommend a balanced and varied diet. As such, if you are thirsty enough to drink over a litre of liquid at once, we would rather recommend consuming some water as well. Please also note the reference values for daily intake on our labels.

Is the 1.15-litre bottle made of recycled plastics?

Yes, just like all Vitamin Well bottles, the new larger bottle is also made of 100 % recycled plastics. The bottles are also produced using 100 % green energy.
